I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is a condition of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses or huge pimple like monsters, that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being over wieght or being unclean and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.
Here is a link :...
If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.
Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, butt, for heavier people in the folds of thier skin and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing or other skin. Stress is a big inducer.

There is some support groups at MSN

and yahoo, and I am open for questions!
I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, I got ping-ponged between doctors , medicines and surgery. It was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don’t have to wait as long or go thru what I did.

I also prefer to use NEXCARE bandages.. there are 2 kinds I like for comfort and stay put reasons..
the first is like a clear bandaid.... soft on the edges with a small area of bandage... helps with those buggers when they are on bikni line.. usually stay for me.. or occasionally on my inner thigh for those I like the foamy sponge like ones that are beige in color.. I think they are 3M. And cleansing with WITCH HAZEL.
Do not reuse or share towels or intimate clothing. DO not wear same clothing twice. IF you hear in your head.. boy i think I should shower.. DO IT. I swear once it gets sticky/sweaty WASH IT.. That sweat irriates the crap outta it, and 10 times outta 10... it will get bigger and hurt more. The best thing for me is to keep it clean and DRY. I usually shower at night but often.. when I come home in the afternoon, I jump in do a quickie it really helps maintain for me..
Again hit me up if you need to talk or get some info. ;)

Interesting question! You should get a second opinion. No disrespect to naturopaths, ask another naturopath. I've had acne since I was a teenager. I am almost 50. It is not as bad as it used to be but I continue to have problems. I have also been diagnosed with Crohn's disease - a chronic problem of affecting my intestines. I did ask a gastroenterologist just this question but he said there was no evidence to suggest a link. I'll bet it's because no one has done much studying on this topic.
